The Jet-Star and American Flag

Last week Lavallette resident Chris Angelo climbed to the top of the Jet-Star to place an American flag. The humor-deficient Seaside Heights Police Department arrested him when he returned. Much mockery of the department ensued, and after sending him for mental evaluation, the police released him with a minor infraction.

As much as the coaster has become a symbol of the power of the storm, the American Flag on top of it has become a new symbol of defiance and fortitude. It certainly gives hope to me, and I'm sure many others, that this place will be restored because we will all collectively restore it.
