The Harmony Borax Works put Death Valley on the map, and is largely responsible for the development of Furnace Creek just down the road. Existing now only as ruins, this site once employed dozens of men who could turn out 3 tons of borax daily. The borax was hauled from the site by the iconic 20 mule teams.
